Characteristics: It is called "Taiwan Star" in Hong Kong, due to its early import from Taiwan. It is similar in appearance to the eastern star grouper fish, but the points that appear on its body are larger than those that appear on the eastern star grouper, and there are long points near the gill area, which differs in that on the eastern star grouper fish as well. Also, its meat is less than that of the eastern star grouper, and the reason for this may be due to the high temperature of the water.
